
Riley Cross Categorical Program Focus To provide students who exhibit a range of educational needs related to communication/language development; academic learning difficulties; sensory regulation, motoric functioning as well as socialization a continuum of curricular emphasis together with a comprehensive team approach including: - Programming designed to address significant deficits in communication/language development, adaptive behavior, social skill development and sensory regulation
- Development of learning strategies, academic and social skills, independent work skills as well as group participation skills
- Intensive focus on developing independent life skills as well as coping skills

Curricular Emphasis - Academic supports, interventions and programming available to address individual student needs and provide access to general education curriculum through a range of opportunities for on site integration
- Intensive, integrative communication and language development instruction via a variety of verbal/nonverbal interventions including the spectrum of low tec augmentative communication supports/devices
- Specific instruction in communication and language development with support from Assistive Technology and Augmentative Communication staff via training and consultation
- Program supports and interventions designed to develop independent functioning in the areas of sensory regulation, adaptive behavior/daily living skills as well as prevocational skills
- Ongoing development of functional social skills with generalization to school environment on daily basis
- A range of curriculur modifications/ accommodations such as communication boards/visual schedules, social stories
- Development of leisure/recreational skills and interests designed for lifelong applications
